Obit – John L. Tucker

John L. Tucker, 57, a former publisher of the Marshall Democrat-News, died April 25, 2008, at his home in McAlester, Okla.
Mr. Tucker graduated from Truman High School in Independence and began his newspaper career as a copy boy at The Kansas City Star and Times in 1968. After graduating from Missouri State University, he went to work for Stauffer Communications as ad director for the Nevada newspaper.
He was named publisher of the Democrat-News in 1978, and in 1983 was named publisher of the Shawnee News-Star in Oklahoma. In 2003, he worked as the ad director of The Edmond Sun, then was named to his current position as publisher of The McAlester News-Capital in 2005.
Survivors are his wife, Rae; four sons, six grandchildren, his mother, and the mother of his children.
