Obit – Franklin Heck
Franklin Nelson Heck, 86, a former ad director of Missouri Press Association, died at his home in Elberta, Ala., on May 9, 2008.
After serving in World War II, Mr. Heck earned a master’s degree from the Missouri School of Journalism. He taught at what is now Columbia College, worked at newspapers in Kansas and Nebraska and then for Missouri Press.
Mr. Heck later joined the Cincinnati Enquirer and then became director of public information at the University of Cincinnati. He bought a newspaper in 1973 and published it until retiring several years later.
Mr. Heck is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, a son, a sister and several grandchildren.
The family requested any contributions be made to the Centennial Celebration of the Missouri School of Journalism.
